Preserve Oahu Prime Farmland or Build over It?

Originally broadcast on Thursday evening, March 29, 2012

From the PBS Hawaii Insights introduction: The struggle over land is a theme that has played itself out throughout Hawaii's history. A major timely example is the debate over Ho'opili, the development planned for East Kapolei. The project's developers are seeking the Land Use Commission's approval to re-zone over 1,500 acres from agricultural to urban use. Dan Boylan and guests tackle this and other examples of competing needs for limited land.

Scheduled guests include: Dr. Kioni Dudley, Convener, Save Oahu Farmlands Alliance; Glenn Martinez, President, Hawaii Farmers Union United; Cameron Nekota, Vice President, D.R. Horton - Schuler Division; and Dean Okimoto, consultant to D.R. Horton on Urban Agriculture and owner of Nalo Farms.
