The Israel lobby is one of the most powerful and influential lobbies, with far-reaching consequences on American foreign policy and relations. Two intrepid professors, John J. Mearsheimer, University of Chicago, Dept. of Political Science, and John M. Walt, Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government, undertook to analyze the Israel lobby’s effect on America and its political process. Their report touched off an uproar and they have suffered insults to their scholarship along with charges of anti-Semitism. None of which surprised them.
