Israeli Voices: Attack Syria Now!

Glenn Beck, who is highly biased in favor of Israel and Jews as the "chosen people," a concept that he believes his church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (Mormon) teaches, has an article written by a Jew, Sharona Schwartz, on his website The Blaze about deep Israeli displeasure over the U.S. hesitation in attacking Syria.

What chutzpah! But apparently Glenn and many Jews don't see it that way.

Israel, the only nation in the Middle East with nuclear weapons, is upset, or so it constantly propagandizes, that Iran is on the verge of having nuclear weapons, an allegation it has been making for years to get its people and other nations, notably the U.S., behind a war with Iran. Israel and the American news media studiously avoid the subject of Israel's own nuclear weapons, which President Kennedy was vehemently against the nation developing back in the early '60s. He was soon dead (some say Israel was behind it), and a much more friendly Lyndon Baines Johnson took office. Under Johnson, Israel was able to attack an American ship, the USS Liberty, and kill many of its crewmen. Nearby American military help was called back by LBJ and Secretary of Defense Bob MacNamara. Immediately after the outrageous attack, the administration and Israel cooperated in a coverup, leading some to wonder if the U.S. administration wasn't in on the attack on its own men.

Why did Israel attack the USS Liberty? Few people know for sure. It happened during the Six Day War in 1967 and Israel was about to invade Syria to acquire the Golan Heights, which it highly coveted. It's thought that it didn't want any foreign powers, especially Russia and the U.S., to get word of its intentions and interfere with its bold theft from Syria. Russia was monitoring signals from the Liberty. Another reason given for the attack is that Israel wanted the U.S. to think Egypt was the country that attacked the ship, and it was a good way to get the U.S. to fight its enemy, having Americans pay in lives and money rather than Israelis. This was 11 years before the Camp David Accords, when the U.S. agreed to pay Egypt (meaning its top leaders, chief among whom was President Anwar El Sadat) a shockingly obscene amount of (American) money not to attack Israel.

It's possible that both the above reasons for the attack hold true..

While Israel has said repeatedly it’s not a party to the Syria conflict, Israeli lawmakers and analysts are voicing concern that President Barack Obama’s hesitation in making a decision about a military strike and sticking with it is sending a loud and “dangerous” message to Iran.

Politicians from the right and left in Israel are questioning Obama’s decision-making one day after the president announced that he was deferring to Congress on the question of use of force.
