Did BP Help the Lockerbie Bomber Get Out of Jail?

Can BP's reputation get any lower? Now the company is said to have helped the Lockerbie Bomber, Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, get out of prison to help its bottom line. The explosion over Lockerbie, Scotland, of a December 21, 1988 Pan Am flight from London to New York killed 270 people.

The first link below the video connects to a Sunday Times (U.K.) article explaining why al-Megrahi's release meant money in the bank to BP.

BP is denying making major bucks off al-Megrahi's release in August 2009, when doctors said he was only expected to live another three months because of prostate cancer. He is not only still alive, but could live another 10 years, according to one of those certifying doctors.

Al-Megrahi himself insists that he's innocent of the Lockerbie Bombing and says that he would like to see the perpetrators identified.
