Peter Carlisle Last-Minute No-Show at Last Night's Forum

Peter Carlisle, until very recently Honolulu city prosecutor, and now Honolulu mayoral candidate, was a last-minute no-show at last night's Salt Lake/Aliamanu mayoral forum.

The reason reportedly given by Carlisle's staff was "something about demographics," said moderator Steve Glanstein. "Everyone is very upset about this."

Considering that the Honolulu mayor's office covers the entire island of Oahu (the City & County of Honolulu), this appears to be a major faux pas on Carlisle's part. Further explanations were not forthcoming as of the time of the following news show that was aired later in the evening.

The new Honolulu mayor will be decided on September 18, the primary election, in a winner-take-all nonpartisan vote.

Deadline to register as a voter for the primary election is this coming Thursday, August 19, at 4:30 p.m. Get the details and voter application here. The application is downloadable online, but cannot be completed and filed online.
