Pro-Rail Faction Running Dirty Campaign: Cayetano

Former Hawaii governor Ben Cayetano, running in the nonpartisan Honolulu mayoral race, says the campaign has taken a nasty turn. Cayetano is against the Honolulu Rail, Hawaii's most expensive project in history by far, while his two best-known opponents, Peter Carlisle (the incumbent) and Kirk Caldwell, are solidly supportive of the Rail project. The pro-rail forces "are worried stiff that they might lose the election" and their tactics in their quest for victory include dirt, states Cayetano.

It has been projected that Rail will cost $7,600 per Oahu resident. Are the pro-Rail politicians motivated by their and their cronies receiving a rewarding portion of the taxpayers' largesse instead of by what is best for the people?
