UH's RESPONSIBILITY AS A LAND GRANT INSTITUTION: A TOWN HALL MEETING

Thursday, November 8, from 7-9 pm, at the UH-M Architecture Auditorium

Panelists:
Tom Apple (Chancellor, UH-M)
Scott Enright (State Department of Agriculture)
Maria Gallo (CTAHR Dean, UH-M)
Brandi Hyden and Z 'Aki (Students with Makawalu, UH-M)
Jon Osorio (Hawaiian Studies, UH-M)

Event format: three questions to be answered by each panelist, followed (time permitting) by questions from the audience.

The three questions are:

1. What are the University's obligations to the community as a land grant institution?

2. How can this university system help meet the needs of a society that imports 90% of its food?

3. The UH Strategic plan calls for the university to be "a Hawaiian place of learning." What is the role of Hawaiian traditional knowledge in fulfilling the University's obligation as a Land Grant Institution?

Co-sponsors: UH Food Sovereignty, UH GMO Education Project, UH-M English Department

This event is free and open to the public.
